A Cowboy's Thanksgiving Prayer

Well Lord, this sure was a praying year,
but I reckon you would know because you sure heard our every prayer,
I'm thinking about the snow that seemed to stay all winter;
we thought it would never leave.

But praying turned to praising when we saw those first green leaves
and we though the worst was over, green grass and clear blue sky,
but when spring rolled into summer, it got so awful dry.

And we prayed for rain, and it finally came and gave us grass for fall,
enough to get us into winter, so I'd say overall, You've been mighty good to us again, Dear Lord mostly when things got tough.

Sometimes you gave us extra, and sometimes just enough.

So, we take this time to thank you for the blessings you bestow on this special Thanksgiving Day, but still I know that cattle folks should be thanking you each and every day because we get extra blessings from you in a extra special way.

The time we get to spend outside amid the beauty of your land, and we experience the joy that comes from riding for your brand.

The friends we make, the folks we meet, our children and our wives are all a part of what we do, living our cowboy lives.

Time is short, the blessings list is long, which I shall not repeat, except to thank You for the cook and his food.

Thanks again Lord, let's eat!!
