The hay's all bailed, alfalfa's stored.
Lord, I feel like I'm going outta my gourd.
The absentee owner flew in for the day
And talked about something called a 401k.
He's put in computers and electronical stuff,
And thinks that indoor plumbing without a Jacuzzi is rough.
The only kind of shelter he knows of is from taxes,
And on the few times he's here, he gets tons of faxes.
The old ranchers are selling, and I can't say I blame 'em.
The buyers from big cities bring their fortunes and fame in.
Whether this is progress, I can't rightly say,
But they're connecting satellite TV to the bunkhouse today.
